“The root of prayer is interior silence.”
Father Thomas Keating,
Open Mind, Open Heart
While there are numerous Centering Prayer groups around the world, Contemplative Outreach of Colorado is unique in that we operate the only center where classes, mini-retreats, days of prayer and other events are provided to the public. Our Center for Contemplative Living in Denver offers introductory workshops on Centering Prayer, as well as Father Thomas Keating’s in-depth, five-part Spiritual Journey Series. A variety of complimentary classes also are available to enrich and support your spiritual growth and prayer practice, no matter where you may be on your journey. Check out the Center’s newsletters for information about our fall mini-retreat and spring annual conference. The Center for Contemplative Living maintains a close spiritual relationship with St. Benedict’s Monastery in Snowmass, where Father Keating resides, as well as the retreat center at the monastery. We are open Tuesdays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. We are closed in the summer.
Contemplative Outreach Vision
Contemplative Outreach is a spiritual network of people and small faith communities committed to living the contemplative dimension of the Gospel in everyday life through Centering Prayer. Our purpose is to share the method of Centering Prayer and its conceptual background. We also encourage the practice of Lectio Divina, particularly its movement into contemplative prayer, which a regular and established practice of Centering Prayer facilitates.
We identify with the Christian contemplative heritage. While we are formed by our respective denominations, we are united in our common search for God and the experience of the living Christ through Centering Prayer. We affirm our solidarity with the contemplative dimension of other religions and sacred traditions, with the needs and rights of the whole human family, and with all creation.
