    The Welcoming Prayer

The Welcoming Prayer is a practice designed to help us respond, instead of react, when we find our emotional programs triggered. In this simple prayer we learn to surrender to God’s presence and action in our lives so we aren’t so torn apart by anxiety, fears, anger or other afflictive emotions. INDIGENOUS WISDOM AND OUR COMMON HOME

These six classes will seek to open dialogue on stewardship and care of mother earth, our common home.  The classes will incorporate and expand upon related themes found in Richard Rohr’s Eco-Spirituality, and material put forth by Ilia Delio, and other spiritual writers.

Dialogue will be the vehicle used to expand our understanding of the complex interrelationship of factors that impact our behaviors on stewardship. Sharing Circles and Principles of Consultation, which have emerged from a 36-year process of reflection, consultation and action among Indigenous Communities across the Americas, and are part of the “Fourth Way” will be utilized to assist us in our dialogue. They were developed in response to their cultural challenges resulting from colonization which they describe as “five hundred years of wintertime.”

Two published documents related to the stewardship and care of the earth will be explored in the class, and include a document presented by a coalition of indigenous organizations at COP-21, Paris, France, December 6, 2015, and LAUDATO SI’: ON CARE FOR OUR COMMON HOME, by Pope Francis. Copies of both documents will be included in the class.
